Trucking Makes the Meal Possible
Long before the oven turns on and the family sits down, trucking is already moving.
That holiday meal didn’t magically appear. Every piece of it, from the turkey to the table, was delivered by drivers who showed up early, stayed late, and kept the country supplied.
Thanksgiving doesn’t happen without trucking. And that’s something worth celebrating.
Trucking Makes the Meal Possible
Here’s what it takes to feed America this week.
Turkeys:
Roughly 46 million turkeys get eaten in November. That is more than 1.1 billion pounds of freight, hauled almost entirely by reefer trucks in the two to three weeks before the holiday. Minnesota ships over 8 million of them, with North Carolina, Arkansas, Indiana, and Missouri close behind.
Cranberries:
About 80 million pounds are consumed. Wisconsin grows more than 60 percent of the country’s supply, so nearly 48 million pounds start their trip there.
Potatoes:
Thanksgiving week adds about 250 million pounds of potatoes to dinner tables. Idaho sends around 75 million pounds across the map.
Pumpkin:
America serves more than 50 million pumpkin pies. That equals roughly 300 million pounds of pumpkin product. Illinois grows about 85 percent of it.
Dairy and ingredients:
More than 75 million pounds of butter and 120 million pounds of cream and milk are used. Add another 100 million units of roasting pans, foil, and containers moving into stores at the same time.
Cold storage. Distribution. Last mile. Every mile of it depends on trucks.
While Others Prepare, Drivers Deliver
Some drivers are loading turkeys before sunrise. Some are hauling last-minute grocery loads.
Some are watching the morning sky from a windshield instead of a kitchen window.
Truckers do the work without asking for attention, but the country would notice fast if they stopped. While everyone else is settling in, drivers are still rolling.
That is commitment. That is pride. That is what puts Thanksgiving on the table.
We See You, and We’re Grateful
This week is packed with family, food, travel, and tradition. None of it happens without the people behind the wheel.
This holiday is built on hard work. It is built on trucking. And it always will be.
Truck U Take
We’ll say it plain. This industry carries more than freight. It carries moments that matter. We’re proud to stand with the drivers who make Thanksgiving possible every single year.
